In Memory of Leon

September 30, 2008
Dear Red Eagle,
I am sad to hear this. Leon was a great man, not only for
the Navaho Nation, but for all peoples everywhere. Mother
Earth
surely will hold him in her heart as he make the transition
into the next world. I also hope that as is well with you
and your loved ones.
From my heart,
Drunvalo

Dear Elvira, Orlando, Shawn and Renee,
We are writing this from Yosemite, California where Mark
and I have been visiting and received the news of
Leon’s transition. This news comes as quite a shock,
as I just spoke with Leon the week before our departure. He
has been very strong in our awareness during our entire
trip. I was gathering rocks, seeds and memories to share
with him upon our return. As we hiked these granite
mountains, we often spoke of how Leon would enjoy the
beauty of Mother Earth’s creations in this special
place. Writing this, I am wondering whether he wasn’t
at times here with us in spirit.
Mark and I are so deeply saddened by Leon’s death.
Our hearts reach out to you with love and compassion as we
can only imagine the magnitude of your loss. We send you
our prayers on the wind and blessings to you and your
families. We extend our hands to you and offer our help in
whatever way best serves you.
From my conversations with Leon, I know he was not fearful
of death; especially given his experiences with the
Ancestors following his stroke. It is my recollection of
these talks which give me peace in this time of grieving.
Despite our immense sadness, we celebrate Leon’s
precious spirit and the manner in which he touched each
person who met him. He gave so generously of his spirit and
his wisdom. His passing is a loss for each of us who had
the privilege of knowing him, and collectively a great loss
for the world.
When we first came to New Mexico in 2001, it was Leon who
helped anchor us to this land. I was longing for my
spiritual family in Hawaii. Little did I know when I first
arrived here that life had been leading me from one wise
elder in Hawaii, to yet another in New Mexico. What a
delightful surprise to meet Leon and have the opportunity
to become friends. Leon helped me to come to know the
beauty and wonder of this place. He opened his sacred
Canyon lands to us and always welcomed us as if we were
family. From our first meeting, there was recognition
beyond words. Through our travels together to Hawaii, it
became clear to me that I was being reunited with “a
Brother”. The gifts he has given me are too numerous
to describe.
As I sit here at Olmstead Point (California), listening to
the wind move through the pines on this rocky perch, I
offer this prayer of gratitude and commitment:
“Mahalo ke Akua (“Thank you God” in
Hawaiian), for blessing our lives with such a beautiful
soul as Leon. I place stones in all of the four directions
and in the center. I sprinkle them with granite dust, in a
manner similar to how I watched Leon do this with corn
pollen during our time in Hawaii. I do this in honor and
remembrance of you Leon, my dear Brother, in appreciation
for your life and how we have walked together, even for a
short time. I say prayers for your spirit as it moves in
other worlds and ask that you be blessed and surrounded in
light, as you do your work from beyond. Thank you for all
the sacrifices you have made for each of us and for the
world. Thank you for the gift of your Self which you gave
so graciously and continuously. Thank you for the sharing
of your wisdom and for the flame of inspiration you ignited
in each of us. Thank you for your care-taking of Mother
Earth, for your messages of prophesy and of hope, for your
commitment to the generations to come. Thank you for being
you. We love you and will miss your physical presence.
However, I trust our relationship is one that transcends
time and space. I look forward to meeting with you in those
unexpected moments where universes collide. We make this
commitment to you, our dear Brother… to carry on
your messages, to nurture the seeds you have planted within
us. May our love be with you always Leon. Blessings to you
and your beloved family as you continue to walk in Beauty.
Be at peace.”

Sekon Sister Cynthia,
Of course Doug and I both are saddened to hear of Leon's
passing. We know he enriched not only our life, but
countless others. It was
indeed an honor to have said he was a dear friend and
teacher. It is said that his spirit stays around his family
and loved ones for 10 days
and then we must be willing to let his spirit rise to the
world across the Milky Way where he will be greeting by his
friends and relatives
awaiting his return.
One day we will join up with Leon in the Spriit World for
more beautiful words and enjoy the light of his being.
With love,
Jo and Doug

Dear Cynthia
Its sad for all of us with the passing of such a great
spirit Leon
This is what I was inspired to write at this time from all
of us, grateful to have meet with Leon. Maybe you could
read this Message from Ireland on our behalf if you feel up
to it. We would be so grate full to you, as I am unable to
attend in person.
Thank you from my heart.
My sincere condolence's to Leon s family, friends and
community at this sad time
Leon ability to consistently clearly to have a set of basic
beliefs in the underlying goodness of all Human Beings. A
belief in the value of compassion, a policy of kindness , a
sense of His commonality with all living creatures. Leon
emphasised the common ground He shared with others, rather
than their differences, resulting in a feeling of
connection with all Human Beings and lead to His basic
belief in the value of compassion and altruism. This is the
Sacred lessons Leon has left in the hearts and minds of our
people here in Ireland and no doubt through out the world.
Leon became an ANAN -CARA ( soul friend) to all of us here
in Ireland, opening us to experience friendship that is not
wounded or limited by separation or distance. This
beautifully illustrated during His visit here in 2002 Much
gratitude Leon! In our tradition we place great and worthy
emphasis on the importance and Sacredness of experience .
We experienced Leon's Beauty, Spirit and friendship, which
is the touchstone of verification, credibility and deep
intimacy. We believe that there is a place where our
vanished days secretly gather. The name of that place is
MEMORY. Blessing you Leon for those wonderful, Healing and
Enlightening Memories.
YOU HAVE LEFT THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR ALL OF US AND
THE GENERATIONS TO COME !
With many blessings to all your family, friends, and
community
Divine Love and Blessings

Leon Secatero was one of the most important spiritual
masters of his time. He transcended the social, political,
and economic realities of our world to pursue his purpose
of bringing the messages of the Creator to all the peoples
of the world. For more than 20 years, Leon consistently and
passionately talked about the need for everyone to "take
care of the land and your surroundings." Indeed, in his
humble and most gentle way, he would plead with anyone who
would listen, whether it was in the middle of winter in an
open field next to a herd of sheep or in the lobby of a
fancy hotel on a tropical island, to live according to the
natural laws of your Creator and to "sing one song, say one
prayer, and walk the next decade together with one voice
for our survival and the survival of future generations."
He almost never showed his anger at anyone, but many of us
did experience his profound saddness and depression when he
encountered individuals who put profits, ambitions, and
personal power ahead of the sacred relationships between
the earth, the animals, the plants, and people. He lived
according to his principles and he led others by his
example of being a wise and caring human being.
Leon has touched the lives of thousands of people and has
left this world a better place because of his efforts.
He was my teacher and my friend for more than 17 years and
I miss him very much.

To the `ohana (family) of Leon Secatero
Love and aloha from Na Haumana Laau Lapaau O Papa Auwae
(the students of Papa Auwae) who were honored with students
of Papa Auwae) who were honored with Leon’s
presence’s presence August 16-20, 2006 on the Big
Island of Hawai`i in the community of Waimea. We are
saddened by his passing and have wonderful memories Waimea.
We are saddened by his passing and have wonderful memories
of this wise and precious kupuna (elder). In the the short
time he spent with us, he shared and taught us many things
which remain in our hearts and spirit. He spoke about love
and compassion, sense of identity, respect, hope, peace and
responsibility to ourselves, our `ohana, our community and
to mankind. He was like our kumu (teacher), the late Henry
“Papa” Auwae, master of laau lapaau (herbal
medicine). Although they never met, they were one in their
commitment to helping others unconditionally worldwide.
You are in our prayers, our thoughts and our hearts. We
will miss him.
